    >>you have to be 21 to 30 years of age. There is 3 years upper age relaxation for the OBC and 5 years for the SC/ST candidates.
    >>You have too be a graduate in any discipline of arts, science or commerce.
    >>you can attempt the exam just 4 times if from the general category, 7times for the OBC candidates and unlimited no. of times for the SC/ST candidates.

Since your current age is coming out to be 31 to 32 years so that is why you cannot go for the exam if from the general category. How ever you have 1 chance left if you are an OBC and 3 times if you are an SC/ST.

Re: Am I eligible for IAS exam if my date of birth is 15.03.1980?

    Hi

IAS stands for Indian Administrative officer.Union Public Service commission(UPSC) will hold the IAS exam every year.
The examination should conducted n 2 phases namely

    • Preliminary examination
    • Min examination..

After clearing the preliminary examination you are eligible for main examination..

    Eligibility for IAS:

You must complete your Graduation from any recognized university.
Your age should not more than 30 years and not less than 21 years. The upper age limit will be applicable for ST/SC/OBC candidates...
You should be citizen from India..

    Number of attempts:

    4 for General candidates
    7 for OBC candidates
    No limit for ST/SC candidates..

    Age qualifications:

    3 years for OBC candidates
    5 years for ST/Sc candidates
    10 years for PH candidates...

If you fulfill those qualifications you are eligible for IAS examination. As a general category candidate you are not eligible for IAS examination.Because compared to your date of birth you are born in 1980.So present your age more tahn 32 years. So you are not eligible for IAS.If you are a SC/ST candidate then only you are eligible for IAS...

    Examination pattern:

The Preliminary examination should consist of 2 papers. This is objective type exam. After clearing the preliminary examination you can go for Main examination..

Main examination should consist of 9 papers. Here you have to choose the optional subjects.Main examination is one of the descriptive examination. After clearing the main examination you can go for final Interview..

    Good lk.......

    Hi Friend ,

    IPS Exam Eligibility

For getting selected to the IPS, there are two types of eligibility. One is that you should be eligible for appearing for the IPS exam

and the other is that after clearing the mains and while appearing for the physical tests during the interview stage you should meet all the physical and other requirements as mandated.

There are no special requirements for appearing for the IPS exam as it is part of the Civil Services examination. So if you fulfill the criteria for civil services exams you, by default, qualify for IPS exams as well. To be eligible for the civil services exams:

You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age (various relaxations are available for different categories).

You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form.

Special requirement for IPS and IAS:

For these two services a candidate MUST be a citizen of India.

Whereas for other services the citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who migrated to India after 1st January 1962, or persons of Indian origin from the countries mentioned in the notification can also apply.

    Special Physical Requirements for IPS

As mentioned earlier candidates appearing for the personality test on clearing the civil services mains exam have to meet certain physical requirements to be eligible for IPS.

Minimum height of 165 cm for Men and 150 cm for Women

    Good Luck!!!
