Minimum qualification for IAS is graduation. So you are eligible. IAS is a much better post than Food Inspector but becoming IAS is very difficult, so give both exams. Best of Luck.

Yes you are eligible for IAS exams conducted by UPSC every year. Opting for IAS is much better option than going for food inspector because of opportunities assigned with an IAS is greater than that of a food inspector.

IAS is part of Civil Service exam.So you should clear civil service exam with good score in order to become a IAS officer.
Civil Service exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission every year once.
To appear for Civil Service exam, you should have complete minimum graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university and your age should be between 21 to 30 years.

If you fulfill with this criteria, then you are eligible to appear for Civil Service exam,to become a IAS officer.
But according to me IAS is the best career option than Food inspector.

Civil Service exam consist of Preliminary exam and Main exam.Preliminary Exam notification released on 11th Feb 2012,closes on 5th March 2012.And exam will held on 20th May 2012.
After clearing Preliminary exam, then only you will eligible for Main exam.Main exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.
