No, you are not eligible for attending the GATE exam while in the 3rd year of engineering. The main qualification for the GATE exam is a graduation in engineering. The final year engineering graduates can also apply. Those with M.Tech qualification are also eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted online. Notifications will be published in the official website. You will get the past papers for practice purpose both online and also in book stalls.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering.This GATE exam is conducted by IIT's every year once to provide post graduation course in engineering for qualified students.

To appear for GATE exam,you should have completed or being in final year of B.tech course with any branch from a recognized university.

GATE Score will valid for 2 years and their is no age limit and you can attempt as much as you want.

Pre-Final year candidate can't appear for GATE Examination


So, you are not eligible to attend GATE examination

Sorry to say this you are not eligible to apply for GATE examination while your pursing 3rd year of bachelor's degree and to apply for this examination the candidate have to completed their graduate degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.

This exam score is valid for 2 years.

Eligibility criteria for GATE-2012:

You should have complete graduation degree in B.E/B.Tech/Architecture/Statistical Course.

You being in final in above mentioned course can also eligible for this exam.

Important dates for GATE-2012 exam:
