In order to attend the Civil services exam, you should be a graduate. There is no specification regarding the subject area of graduation. You can secure graduation in any subject area provided it is obtained from a recognized institute. You should be between 21- 30 years. Age relaxations are allowed for the reserved category candidates. The final year graduates are also eligible to attend the IAS preliminary exam. The total number of attempts for the general category candidates is 4.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and the exam is conducted by the UPSC Board. The Notifications about the exams are given in the employment newspapers or updated in the UPSC website. As you know the exam is divided into two phases the prelims and the Main exam.

To apply for the exam you need to be a graduate from a recognized university with any discipline. you must have attained 21 years of age and must not be more than 30 years. Upper age relaxations for SC/ST is 5 years for OBC it is 3 years. You must be a citizen of India. Even final year graduates are eligible to appear for the exam.

As i have told you above that the exam is divided into 2 phases the prelims and the Main exam.
