Re: Am I eligible to appear in IES exam after completing B.Tech in Chemical technology in plastics and polymer technology?

    Hi Buddy,

No, I'm sorry to say but you cannot apply for IES belonging to Chemical Technology in Graduation. Only specified branches are allowed to take part in IES examination such as

    1. Civil Engineering
    2. Mechanical Engineering
    3. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
    4. Electronics and Communication Engineering

But, if you're interested then you can opt out for govt services such as IAS or IPS, depending upon your interest as you're not eligible for IES.

The details for IAS or IPS are

Education : You must be a Graduate in any stream from a recognized university.

Age Limits : Minimum age is 21 years and maximum age is for Gen - 30 years, OBC - 33 years, SC/ST - 35 years.

    No of Attempts : Gen - 4, OBC - 7, SC/ST - No Restriction.

IAS examination is conducted in 3 phases :

    1.Civil Service Aptitude Test (Prelims)
    2.Main Exams
    3.Interview

    Exam pattern:

Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II.
Syllabus for CSAT as proposed by UPSC
    (Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs
(Paper II) (200 marks) Duration : Two hrs

The final interview will be of 300 marks.

As you're not eligible for IES, depending upon your interest you can choose either IAS/IPS or try for some other jobs in your field of chemical technology.

    All the best.

Re: Am I eligible to appear in IES exam after completing B.Tech in Chemical technology in plastics and polymer technology?

B.Tech in Chemical technology in plastic and polymer technology is not one of the streams whose students qualify for appearing for India Engineering Services Exam.

The IES authority has specified only 4 streams of engineering which can be considered for application to IES.
    The streams are:
    I. Electrical Engineering
    II. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
    III. Civil Engineering
    IV. Mechanical Engineering

Apart from this qualification criterion, a candidate must also meet the age criterion which says that the age limit is between 21-30 years, with upper age limit relaxation applied to minorities.

The last date to apply for this year's IES exam which is to be held on 15th June, 2012 was 9th April, 2012.

The branch which you belong to is not eligible for IES.
