IES : Indian Engineering Services Examination !!

This examination is conducted by the UPSC, India every year for the recruitment to the four categories of engineering services :

>> Civil Engineering
>> Mechanical Engineering
>> Electrical Engineering
>> Electronics & telecommunication Engineering.

If you have completed your B.E with Electronics and Communication Engineering, Then you are eligible to apply for IES Examination.

The Notification of IES Examination Will be Published Every Year, Eligible candidates may apply for this examination Online by visit the UPSC Website.

To appear IES Examination, You have to attained the age of 21 Years and Not Attained the age of 30 Years, Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

There is no Restriction in Number of Attempts in IES Examination.

The selection process is based on the two levels :

>> Written Test
>> Personality Test

Those who successfully qualify in the written examination are called for the Personality test, which is a Personal Interview kind of test. The total marks for the Personality test is 200 Marks.

The written Examination will comprise two sections : Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers.

One can apply for Engineering Services Examination after passing B.E./B.Tech./equivalent from a recognised university.
Also, final year students of the qualifying degree are eligible for the exam.
So, you can apply next year for ESE.
There is no % restriction.

The age limitation for the exam is
21-30 years (For GEN category students)
21-33 years (For OBC category students)
21-35 years (For SC/ST/PH candidates)

Also there is some restriction in no. of attempts. Within the mentioned age limit one can attempt the exam
4 times (GEN category students)
7 times (OBC category students)
No restriction for SC/ST/PH candidates in no. of attempts.

The examination is conducted in four domains.

II. Electrical Engineering
III. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

Yes, you are eligible for IES. But, you can't write in 3rd year. You can write only in the final year or after finishing it in any of the following branches.

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engg.
Electrical Engg.
Electronics and Tele communication Engg.

So, you are absolutely eligible for IES in final year.

Your age should be between 21 to 30years.
For SC/ST - 21 to 35years
For OBC -21 to 33years
For PD - 21 to 40years
You can write IES even if you are in final year.
You should be Indian.

Generally IES paper will be for 1000 marks and it includes;
OBJECTIVE TYPE::
# General Ability Test
# Subject Objective Paper-1
# Subject Objective Paper-2

These Papers contains 120 questions.
Every question is of 4marks.
Every Paper is for 200 Marks.
Exam Duration is 2hrs.
Negative Marking is for every 1/3 question.


DESCRIPTIVE TYPE::
Section-2 consists of 2papers

If you have completed engineering discipline in following departments then you are eligible for IES exam

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering

The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.

For general student it is 4.

And for OBC it is 7 times.
