Re: Am I eligible to appear in GATE exam while pursuing 3rd year engineering in electronics and tele communications stream?

Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering Examination (GATE Exam) is conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology altogether once in every year to provide post graduation degree in engineering.
As it is a post graduation degree, the basic eligibility criterion for academic requirement would definitely require a candidate to be a B.E or B.Tech graduate.
Or even a final year student/ pursuing last year / 4th year of one's degree programme can apply to write GATE.

    >>The notification of the exam is released every year in September and the exam is conducted in January of next year, with results being announced in March.
    >>The only source of application for the exam is through Online application.
    >>The website used for the purpose would be - http://www.iitk.ac.in

##Even a post graduate student can write GATE if he/she is a Master degree holder in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and even if one is in the final year of such programmes.
##Second and third year MCA students , and First and Second year MSc students are also eligible.
But not 3rd year B.E or B.Tech students, so you are presently ineligible.

There is no restriction to choose engineering subject for GATE examination.
You should choose a subject for GATE based on following.
-Which stream you are good at?
-With what specialization you want to do M.Tech.?

You should refer any IIT's M.Tech. brochure for getting the course details and their
eligibility so that you could choose right specialization for M.Tech. and hence the
right engineering subject to be taken in GATE.
