Re: Academic qualifications required for becoming a Deputy Collector?

Graduates from recognised institutes are allowed to apply for this post. There is no specific requirement of a specific stream. So all graduates including from science, commerce, BBA etc. are allowed to appear for the exam. Even those which higher degree like Postgraduates are also allowed. A pass in any of these courses is allowed to apply. It is a must that the candidate be at least 21 years old. There is a maximum age limit of 30 years. The maximum age limit for those from SC/ST or OBC is around 32 to 35 years depending on the state from where they apply. Selection is done on basis of written test and interview which is conducted by PSC.

Re: Academic qualifications required for becoming a Deputy Collector?

The educational qualifications required to become a Deputy Collector is a pass in bachelors’ degree. Graduates in Commerce, Arts or Science subjects can apply for the test. Those who are having an equivalent or higher degree are also qualified for the test. However, applicants should have done the qualification course from a acknowledged University or institute. There is no specific percentage requirement also. In addition, they should be aged above 20 and below 35 years. There are considerable age reductions for the SC/ST and other backward classes. To become a Deputy Collector, aspirants have to attend an entrance test. Union Public Service Commission and the PSC’s in each state conduct the Deputy Collector’s examinations. Those who clear the test and the Personal interview thereafter can become Deputy Collectors.

-Among other eligibility criteria, one must be a Citizen of India,or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan,or a Tibetan refugee settled in India permanently before 1962.
